Incidental findings are common in CBCT. A basic search of PubMed for CBCT and Incidental Findings will reveal numerous articles. The prevalence of incidental findings is high. It is essential that these findings are picked up and a decision is made whether they are clinically significant. If this is the case, a plan of action should be put in place based on their urgency.
We will communicate with you any urgent findings when we report your scans.
We follow the Royal College of Radiologists published guidelines in relation to the standards for the communication of critical, urgent and unexpected significant radiological findings. This ensures that reports are read in a timely manner and any unexpected significant findings are reported back to the referring clinician also in a timely manner.
